Driving Practices You aren't required to change gearbox fluid frequently for typical driving under normal circumstances. However, if your car is used in ways that are out of the ordinary, like: • Either heavy hauling or towing • Driving slowly for a prolonged period of time • Driving a lot on unlevel ground You might need to change it on a regular basis, depending on how frequently it is used.
